Pokémon TCG Pocket: Venusaur EX vs. Articuno EX

In the dynamic world of Pokémon TCG, Venusaur EX and Articuno EX are powerful contenders, each bringing unique abilities to the table. While Articuno EX is known for its aggressive attacks and potential for huge damage output, Venusaur EX stands as a tanky defender with a focus on sustained healing. This article dives into the Venusaur EX deck’s concept of “unlimited healing,” using a clever synergy of Venusaur EX, Butterfree, Potion, and the Erika Supporter to create a defensive powerhouse capable of outlasting and overwhelming the opponent.

The core of this deck is Venusaur EX, whose signature move, Giant Bloom, provides a strong combination of attack and self-healing. By delivering 100 damage and healing itself for 30 damage in a single move, Giant Bloom keeps Venusaur EX healthy while pressuring the opponent’s Pokémon. This dual-action attack allows Venusaur EX to maintain both offense and defense, giving it significant staying power in any battle.

However, Giant Bloom’s healing alone isn’t enough to withstand the sustained high-damage attacks many competitive decks can deliver. This is where the deck’s support cards—particularly Butterfree with its Powder Heal ability—come into play.

Butterfree plays a crucial support role in this deck with its Powder Heal ability, which allows it to heal 20 damage from all Pokémon on your side of the board each turn. When used alongside Venusaur EX, Butterfree adds an extra layer of healing that can quickly add up. Each time Venusaur EX attacks with Giant Bloom, it heals itself for 30 damage, and Butterfree’s Powder Heal adds an additional 20, effectively healing Venusaur EX for 50 damage each round. This continuous healing loop makes Venusaur EX incredibly difficult to take down, even when facing heavy hitters like Articuno EX.
